About Child Care Seminars:
Child Care Seminars was founded in October 2007 to reach the child care providers who need training hours to satisfy licensing requirements but don't have the time or energy to attend classes in the evenings or on weekends. Family time is precious to us because we share so much of our time caring for others.
Child Care Seminars started off modestly with a few online classes, then expanded to include correspondence courses for those providers who do not have internet access or who are uncomfortable with the computer.
Deborah A. Griffin, Ed.S, CPC, CFLE, IMH-E, formerly Deborah Campbell, has the following degrees:
A.A.
Accounting
B.S.
Psychology with a minor in Child Development
M.S. Family Life Studies with an emphasis in Child Development
Ed.S. Adult Education with a cognate field of Developmental Disabilities in Children Birth to Five.
She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Training & Development Leadership at Northcentral University, and her certification as a Professional Trainer.
Deborah is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations, having been first certified in 1989. She is a former president of the Mississippi Council on Family Relations and former Mississippi statewide CFLE certification coordinator.
Deborah recently received her Certified Professional Coach (CPC) credential from Coaches Institute International.
Deborah has received her Level I endorsement from the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (the IMH-E designation) and is working toward advancement in this area.
Deborah's work experience includes teaching at child care centers, university infant development lab, toddler school and nursery school, public school (first and second grades), institutional care quality assurance and community services for persons with mental retardation, early intervention clinical program director, and director of two child care resource and referral regional programs in Utah and Michigan. She is an active CDA advisor and observer, and an NAFCC Accreditation Observer.
Deborah believes that her experience, education, and devotion to continued learning in the field demonstrates that she is committed to providing the best quality child care training possible while making it interesting, fun and convenient for the busy adult learner.
Because of this strong interest in adult learners, Deborah has decided to change the focus of Child Care Seminars. Instead of providing training directly to the child care provider, Deborah will focus on training the trainer--teaching trainers how best to work with adult learners. She believes this is the best way to effect the greatest change in training for the child care workforce.
She is also changing CCS to serve as a clearinghouse for training opportunities around the country! CCS should be your first stop when searching for online training and other valuable resources!

Deborah has been a long-time believer in the work of Malcolm Knowles, the "father of adult education", since her days as an Adult Ed. major at the University of Southern Mississippi. As she listened in class, participated in discussions with her cohort, and read the works of the masters in this field, she fell in love with adult education and andragogy.
Andragogy is the practice of teaching adults. Adults should not be taught the same way as children. Adults have a vast array of experience with life, and because of that, everything we adults learn about is filtered through our own experiences.
Adults have a lot to offer and do not need or want to be lectured--adults need to be treated as adults and given the opportunity to share what they know with others.
Adults prefer self-directed learning. We prefer to choose what we want to learn and we want to learn things that have some significance in our lives... things with practical applications.
